This course engages students in investigations in classic and cutting-edge concepts, systems and research in the field of data management and database systems. The course introduces concepts of data management and database systems through the original research publications that introduced these concepts. Recent advances in data management concepts, methods and system are also studied from the point-of-view of researchers in the field. Hands-on experience in working with modern database database systems supporting different data models is incorporated in the course. Students will read and learn how to write research papers in every topic.
